Shoe pattern design book

I’m Vangelis Doukakis shoe designer – Factory precision pattern creator – Grading  specialist – Technical consultant – Author of a technical book on shoe design.

We will continue the article from where we left off. The last is classified into categories depending on its use. The main ones are

• Heel
• Shoe
• Sandal
• Boot with zipper
• Boot without zipper
• Moccasins

The last each category is different. It has differences in length, thickness and appearance.

In the book The Art of Shoe Design that I have published there are all tables of last dimensions. There we see the way to measure a last. We understand if it does the job we want. A wrong last makes a wrong pattern, resulting in a wrong shoe. What to do with the fine line if the foot does not fit inside the shoe

I, Vangelis Dukakis, shoe designer, always put the right thing first, which is the most difficult, and then the beautiful thing. Maybe because the beautiful was easier for me. (I am a visual artist)

As long as we have the right last we start making the pattern. We draw our design carefully on the last. Of course the shoe pattern design details are given in my book
